Scalp Health & Trichoscopy Brisbane

WHERE SCALP SCIENCE MEETS RESTORATIVE RITUAL

At Wabi Sabi Wellness, we believe a beautiful head spa experience can be deeply relaxing — but your scalp deserves more than relaxation alone.

Our approach brings together professional scalp observation, trichoscopy, scalp and hair education and Japanese-inspired head spa ritual to create treatments that feel beautiful while being thoughtfully tailored to what we see.

Located in Eatons Hill on Brisbane’s Northside, Wabi Sabi Wellness offers a more considered approach to scalp care for women wanting to better understand their scalp, hair and individual needs.

LOOK CLOSER. UNDERSTAND MORE.

What is trichoscopy?

Trichoscopy is the use of a specialised magnifying scope to examine the scalp and hair at a level that cannot be seen clearly with the naked eye.

During a scalp assessment, we may observe:

  • scalp condition and visible irritation

  • dryness, flaking or excess oil

  • product and sebum build-up

  • follicular openings

  • hair density and variation in hair shaft appearance

  • areas of visible redness or sensitivity

  • signs that may indicate professional medical assessment is appropriate

Trichoscopy does not replace medical diagnosis.

Instead, it helps us make more informed decisions about the cosmetic scalp care, products and head spa treatments that may be appropriate for you.

MORE THAN A HEAD SPA

A scalp-first approach to Japanese Head Spa

No two scalps are exactly the same.

This is why Wabi Sabi treatments aren’t based on simply following the same routine for every client.

Your experience may include:

Counseling Session Interaction

Consultation

We begin by discussing your scalp, hair, current routine, products and any concerns you have noticed.

Acupressure

Scalp Observation & Trichoscopy

Where appropriate, the scalp and hair are viewed under magnification to help us better understand what is happening at the surface.

Reiki Healing Session

Individualised Ritual

Products and techniques are selected according to your scalp presentation and treatment goals.

Hair Wash Process

Cleanse & Scalp Care

Thoughtful cleansing helps remove excess oil, product residue and surface build-up without unnecessarily disrupting the scalp.

Relaxing Face Massage

Massage & Nervous-System Rest

Slow, intentional scalp massage and ritual techniques create space for the body to settle while supporting a deeply restorative experience.

Hair Stylist at Work

Education

Where appropriate, you’ll leave with simple guidance around scalp care, washing, products and when further professional assessment may be worthwhile.

COMMON SCALP CONCERNS

What can we look at?

Clients often come to Wabi Sabi Wellness because they’re experiencing:

Combing Wet Hair

Dry or flaky scalp

Not all flaking is dandruff. Understanding what the scalp looks and feels like can help determine the most appropriate cosmetic care.

Skin

Oily or congested scalp

Excess sebum, sweat and product residue can leave the scalp feeling heavy, uncomfortable or difficult to keep fresh.

Hair Extension Application

Product build-up

Dry shampoo, styling products, oils and other products can accumulate on the scalp and around the hair.

Holding a Head

Sensitive or uncomfortable scalp

A gentle scalp assessment can help identify visible signs that mean a treatment should be modified — or that a GP, dermatologist or trichologist should be consulted instead.

Various Hair Colors

Changes in hair density or shedding

Hair shedding and thinning can have many causes. Trichoscopy allows us to observe the scalp and hair more closely, while recognising when a concern falls outside the scope of a wellness treatment.

Blonde Hair Texture

Scalp care during times of stress

Stress can influence both our perception of scalp discomfort and aspects of hair and scalp health. Our rituals combine scalp care with intentional relaxation and nervous-system support.

KNOWING WHEN NOT TO TREAT MATTERS TOO

Professional care includes knowing our limits

An important part of responsible scalp care is recognising when a head spa treatment is not the appropriate next step.

If we observe something that may require diagnosis or medical treatment, we will recommend that you speak with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional, dermatologist or trichologist.

Wabi Sabi Wellness does not diagnose scalp disorders or prescribe medical treatment.

Our role is to provide informed cosmetic scalp care, trichoscopy-supported observation, education and restorative head spa treatments within our professional scope.

THE WABI SABI DIFFERENCE

Scalp knowledge. Ritual. Reconnection.

Wabi Sabi Wellness was created for those who want something more thoughtful than a conventional salon treatment — and more nurturing than a purely clinical experience.

Our approach brings together:

Professional scalp education

Training in Principles of Hair & Scalp Science and the use of trichoscopy through the Australian Institute of Trichology.

Japanese-inspired Head Spa

Cleansing, scalp care, steam, water therapy, massage and deeply restorative ritual.

Holistic wellness

An understanding that the experience of stress, rest and wellbeing belongs in the conversation too.

Individualised care

Treatments are adapted according to the person in front of us rather than delivered as a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Professional boundaries

We understand the difference between cosmetic scalp care and concerns requiring medical or specialist assessment.
